Nature Communications Early Career Researcher peer mentoring program - now accepting applications

Nature Communications is now inviting early career researchers (ECRs) to apply for its ECR peer review programme. Launched last year, this programme is designed to be an opportunity for early career researchers to get formal training in peer review, guided by professional editors. Participants will learn what makes peer review constructive, get guidance on how to write a reviewer’s report, valuable for authors and editors, and have an opportunity to get involved in peer review.

Participants will first attend an introductory webinar, held by editors of Nature Communications, explaining the value of the review process and how it’s done. Participants will then continue working one-on-one with a professional editor who handles manuscripts within the ECR’s area of expertise. The assigned editor will provide each ECR with the opportunity to review a manuscript in parallel to the usual review process and give them personalized feedback on their report. Feedback from participants in the first year of the programme can be read here.

Apply

More information about this programme is available at: https://www.nature.com/ncomms

Interested candidates can apply using the following link: sorry this link has expired and is no longer available

The deadline for applications is 14 June 2021.

Openings are limited to subject areas handled at Nature Communications and editor availability.  Previous experience with peer review is not required. We have a limited number of places available. However, we aim to offer this program regularly, so there will be more than one opportunity to apply.
