Call for Expressions of Interest: AFD-GDN Biodiversity and Development Award - deadline March 7
The Global Development Network (GDN) and the French Development Agency (AFD) have jointly launched the AFD-GDN Biodiversity and Development Awards, to create a high-quality and high-visibility opportunity for researchers based in select developing countries to produce and disseminate quality research, especially multidisciplinary research, that is independent, of high quality, and policy relevant on the link between biodiversity and development. The Awards consist of four competitively selected individual research grants of up to USD 40,000 for maximum 24 months, one of which is earmarked for Francophone Africa, plus two additional grants for winners that successfully develop a multi-disciplinary project together.
Eligibility
- The awards are open to candidates from developing countries - for a full list of eligible countries, see the attached Call for Expressions of Interest, or view online here.
- Proposals from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Ethiopia, Fiji, Gabon, Guinea, 9 Guyana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Republic of Congo, Sénégal, Tunisia, Uganda, and Vietnam are particularly welcome, and will be given preference in cases of parity in quality.
- Applicants need to be able to read, speak and write in English, since the program is run in English. Applications in English are hence requested on priority for this all. However, applications in French will be accepted as an exception, and with justification.
